By October 7, 2022, all the medical institutes in India have to provide a detailed report on medical students who have died by suicide, given resignations, changed their working hours, and taken weekly offs in the last five years. Dr. Aujender Singh, Deputy Secretary, Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) and member secretary, the anti-ragging committee notified all principals and deans of medical colleges that the regulatory agency has constituted an anti-ragging committee with Dr. Aruna V. Vanikar, President, UGMEB, as the chairperson.

In the official releases, he further added that on September 27, the anti-ragging committee held its first meeting and reviewed the ragging complaints received from medical students or parents of medical students. The committee expressed their concern over incidents of suicide and suicidal tendencies among the medical students. Hence, taking a serious stance on the rising ragging incidences and their effects, the anti-ragging committee has created an email address, antiragging@nmc.org.in  to make it easier for medical students to file complaints with the NMC and the relevant schools and institutes.

The NMC has also requested all universities to publicize the email address by posting it on their websites and by posting notices in public areas like dormitories, meal halls, classrooms, libraries, lecture halls, etc.
